Aus der Studie: "Public perception of product safety worsened slightly between 2011 and 2012. According to the 2012 survey data, over a quarter of consumers (27 %) and almost a fifth of retailers (19 %) think that a significant number of non-food products on the market are unsafe, which is an increase of 2 percentage points compared to 2011 among both respondent groups. Slightly fewer consumers (25 %) and retailers (17 %) think that a significant number of food products are unsafe, but these numbers have also grown since 2011 (by 2 and 3 points, respectively). The newly proposed packages of measures on product safety and market surveillance (February 2013) and on safety of the food chain (May 2013) aim to simplify and strengthen the safety rules applying to, respectively, non-food and food products in the EU."
